This Cookie Policy explains the cookies and browser storage used on the AeroTech Academy platform. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. Summary

We use first-party, strictly necessary storage to operate the platform: keeping you signed in, enforcing the device limits attached to your licence, and remembering your language and interface preferences. These are always active because the platform cannot work without them.

We also use optional analytics and advertising cookies and tags (Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads) to understand how the platform is used and to measure the effectiveness of our advertising. These are switched off until you allow them. When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you accept all, reject all, or choose each category separately. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the site footer.

Until you give consent, Google's tags run in a restricted mode (Google Consent Mode v2) in which no analytics or advertising cookies are set and no advertising identifiers are used.

When you complete a purchase, our payment provider, Paddle, may set its own cookies inside its checkout window. This is addressed in section 4.

2. What we use and why

2.1 Strictly necessary storage (always active)

2.2 Analytics cookies (optional — only with your consent)

2.4 What we do not use

We do not use social media tracking pixels, data brokers, or any technology that sells or shares your personal data with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes. We do not use cookies to profile you in a way that produces legal effects or similarly significant effects.

3. Your consent and how to change it

3.1 Under the ePrivacy Directive (as implemented across the EU/EEA) and the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), consent is required before storing or accessing information on a user's device unless the storage is "strictly necessary" to provide a service the user has explicitly requested.

3.2 Every item listed in section 2.1 is strictly necessary in this sense and is therefore set without consent: without the authentication token you cannot stay signed in, without the device identifier we cannot enforce the licence terms you agreed to, and the language and consent preferences exist solely to deliver the experience you selected.

3.3 Everything listed in sections 2.2 and 2.3 is optional and is only loaded after you accept the relevant category. Rejecting analytics or advertising has no effect on your access to any part of the platform, your course content, or your purchase.

3.4 You can withdraw or change your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, using the Cookie settings link in the site footer. Withdrawal takes effect immediately for future processing; it does not affect data already collected lawfully before withdrawal.

3.5 We implement Google Consent Mode v2. Before consent, Google tags are loaded with all consent signals denied, meaning no analytics or advertising cookies are written and no advertising identifiers are transmitted.

3.6 Where we record a conversion after a purchase, we may share a hashed (irreversible) version of your email address with Google for conversion measurement. This only happens if you have accepted advertising cookies.

4. Paddle checkout cookies

4.1 When you make a purchase, checkout is handled by Paddle, our payment provider and merchant of record, inside a Paddle-controlled checkout window. Paddle may set its own cookies within that checkout window to process your payment, prevent fraud, and calculate applicable tax.

4.2 These cookies are set and controlled by Paddle, not by us. Paddle's use of cookies and personal data is described in Paddle's own privacy policy: https://www.paddle.com/legal/privacy.

4.3 We do not receive or store your card details; only order and transaction identifiers are passed back to us once payment completes.

5. Managing storage through your browser

5.1 You can view, block, or delete localStorage data and cookies at any time through your browser settings:

Apple Safari — Settings or Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
Mozilla Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
Microsoft Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions

5.2 What happens if you clear or block this storage:

If you clear or block	Effect
The authentication session token	You will be signed out and will need to sign in again.
`ata.device-id`	Your browser will be treated as a new device the next time you sign in, which counts against the device limit on your licence.
`aerotech.locale`	The interface will revert to the default language until you choose a language again.
`aerotech.dictionary.favorites`	Your saved dictionary favourites on that device will be lost.

5.3 Private or incognito browser windows discard this storage when the window is closed, which means you will need to sign in again and your browser may be counted as a new device each time.

6. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy if the storage we use changes. Any update that introduces a new, non-essential storage technology will be accompanied by a request for your consent before it is used, as described in section 3.4.
